Tough FA Trophy ties for Peterborough Sports and Stamford AFC as city side take on former Posh player

Peterborough Sports and Stamford AFC have been handed tough third qualifying round ties in the FA Trophy.

Sports will host a Gainsborough Trinity side managed by former Peterborough United player Curtis Woodhouse, while Stamford must travel to higher-level Stourbridge.

Woodhouse played 72 times for Posh between 2003 and 2005, scoring 12 goals.

The ties are scheduled for Saturday, October 31 when Sports will hope to be free of self-imposed isolation following a positive Covid test on one member of the first-team squad.

Gainsborough are currently mid-table in the Premier Division of the Northern Premier League, the same level as Sports.

Stourbridge play in the same Southern League division as Sports, one level above Stamford who pipped Lincoln United 2-1 in the second qualifying round at the weekend.

Stamford have a Northern Premier League South East Division fixture at home to Worksop Town tomorrow (7.45pm) when Wisbech Town will seek their first points of the season at home to Cleethorpes Town.
