Chasers Peterborough Sports Development, Holbeach United Reserves and Netherton United will all be praying for a Thorney win on Saturday.

They all kept in touch with Thorney at least by winning at the weekend. Andrew Irvine cracked a hat-trick, while Ethan Atkins and Ayman Trabelsi both scored twice for Sports in a 7-1 duffing of Long Sutton Athletic and Antonio Del Russo (2), Ritchie Baines (2) and Tom Randall scored the goals in Netherton’s 5-1 win at Ramsey.

Holbeach led 2-0 at half-time against Oakham through Cal Simmons and an own goal and hung on for a win after Michael Nelson’s second half penalty.

ICA Sports picked up a surprise win at Stamford Lions thanks to a second-half strike from Fabio Ramos and Sutton Bridge United pipped Ketton by the odd goal in seven.

There was a shock heavy defeat for Division One high-fliers Eye United who were beaten 6-0 at Crowland, but Netherton Reserves continued their bright start to the Division Two season with a 6-1 win over Warboys Town. Nuno Marujo scored four.

Stilton, 7-2 winners over Eunice, Huntingdon and Peterborough NECI, 4-0 winners at Stamford Bels Reserves, boast 100 per cent winning records in Divisions Two and Three respectively.

Matt Heron’s goal was enough for Whittlesey Athletic to beat West Wratting 1-0 in the Cambs Cup.
