Title favourites Crowland Town overcome the odds to claim second successive Premier Division win

Title favourites Crowland Town overcame considerable odds before sealing a second successive Peterborough Premier Division win on Saturday.

Crowland were reduced to 10 men after 15 minutes of their match against newly-promoted Youth Dreams Project at Snowden’s Field and trailed 2-1 at half-time before rallying to win 4-3.

Jack Carter was another two-goal star in Whittlesey Athletic Reserves’ 3-1 win at Whaplode Drove Rovers in the only other weekend top-flight match. Harrison Stimson also scored with Avelino Vieira replying for Rovers who had a man sent off after four minutes.

There is a full programme of fixtures next Saturday (September 5) with early season leaders Crowland Town hosting Ramsey (2pm).

Division One also gets going properly next weekend. Ketton Sports Premiair beat Yaxley Reserves 3-2 in the only Saturday game at this level. Nathan Bedford, Joe Burborough and Solomon Snelling scored for the home side with Reece Campbell claiming both Yaxley goals.

The first games in Divisions Two, Three and Four will take place on Saturday. The Sunday Morning League also kicks off this weekend.
