Stamford AFC Reserves move to the top of the early-season table with a 5-2 win over Youth Dreams Project. Both teams had played Division One football last season. Elliott Feetham and Adam Steels scored twice for the winners with Tyrell Campbell-Smith also on target. Josh Hales and Ashton Haslam scored for YDP.

Long Sutton Athletic won the Division One title last season and took the step up in standard in their stride by seeing off Whittlesey Athletic Reserves 7-1. Jack Fowler scored twice.

Warboys Town (4-0 v FC Peterborough Reserves) and Deeping Rangers Reserves (6-0 at Whaplode Drove) won their opening matches convincingly. James Russell hit a hat-trick for Deeping.

Thorpe Wood Rangers jumped up two divisions after winning Division Three by a country mile last season. They started life in Division One with a 4-2 win at ICA Sports with Thomas Klinkovics, Joe De Lucis (2) and Jack Nicholls grabbing the goals.

Harry Dee and Ryan Bloss scored twice apiece as Hampton United kicked off Division Two with a 6-1 win over Whittlesey Athletic Development.

Biggest winners of the weekend were Farcet United who crushed Stamford Lions Reserves 14-0 in Division Four. Josh Pike, Mackenzie Byrne and Thomas Holt all scored four.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL

Netherton United won their first qualifying round match in the Women’s FA Cup 6-5 on penalties at Sherwood after a 0-0 draw on Sunday.

They will host Nottingham Trent University in the second qualifying round on Sunday September 20. They play a tier above Netherton in the East Midlands Womens Regional Football League

Spalding United faced Stanground Cardea Sports at the same time but the match was abandoned in stoppage after a worrying clash saw Spalding goalkeeper Vickie Foster land awkwardly and have to be rushed to hospital.

Fortunately, she was discharged on Sunday evening and suffered only a concussion.

The match was 2-1 to Cardea in the final minutes and the FA must now make a decision on whether to replay the match or award it to Cardea.

The winner will travel to Basford United in the next round, a side at the same level but in the East Midlands Central Division rather than the Northern Division with Spalding and Cardea.
