The 21 year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year contract and will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s League One match at Gillingham.

Nabi has been with West Brom for 14 years and is a former player-of-the-year in their under 21 side.

He has not appeared in West Brom’s first team, but has spent time on loan this season with Delhi Dynamoes in the Indian Super League.

He has been described as very quick with an eye for goal.

Nabi said: “It has happened very quickly and this is a very important move for me. It came to the stage where it is time for me to play some games and when Peterborough came calling, I jumped at the chance. The players that have come into this football club and gone on to do great things recently shows what can be done.

“I am excited to play some football now. I want to help the team get promoted into the Championship and score some goals along the way. The move happened very quickly, I got a phone call from the agent and he asked me my thoughts and I said ‘go for it 100%’. This is a big club and I am delighted to be here.

“I have been at West Brom since I was six or seven years old so it is a big part of my family and my two younger brothers are also there so it is a big move but one that I am looking forward to.”

Manager Graham Westley said: “This is a long story because it goes back to me wandering up one night to watch Kemar Roofe play for West Brom under 21s. Kemar did well to be fair, but I came away with the name Nabi on my lips. He was outstanding, he scored a brilliant hat-trick, but it wasn’t just the hat-trick, it was his all-round display.

“I have had my eye on him ever since. He went out to India and played some football, he is back, he is available and I am pleased to have him here at the football club. I think the fans are going to love him.”

Nabi will wear the number 42 shirt. He will not be able to play against his former club in the FA Cup as part of the agreement of the transfer.

Posh sold top scorer Conor Washington to Championship side QPR for a reported £2.5 million on Tuesday (January 19).

Earlier today, Posh signed young Norwich City left-back Harry Toffolo (20) on loan for the rest of this season.

Posh are expected to announce further signings soon.
