Marcus Maddison was excellent for Posh, but the rest struggled to make an impression on an understrength Bury side who ran out deserved 3-1 winners.

Stuart Moore: He’s been largely blameless in two appearances. Made a cracking save to keep Posh in touch at 2-1 midway through the second-half, but he weas caught out of position by crafty free kick late on 6

Ricardo Santos: He was rock solid for half an hour, He’s no right-back though which is here he ended up in the second-half. He’s too easily exposed out wide as it showed with the foul that prompted his second yellow card. His first yellow might have been unlucky 5

Gaby Zakuani: Never looked comfortable as a left-sided central defender. Beaten too easily for the second goal 5

Jack Baldwin: Endured some uncomfortable moments in the wind before the break. Close to a red card for a robust challenge. Struggling for form 5

Michael Smith: Rarely effective going forward when playing as a right wing-back. Switched to left back for second half which completely neutered him 5

Kgosi Ntlhe: Asked to play as an attacking wing-back. Never seen going forward, lost the ball in danegrous areas a couple of times and substituted at half-time 5

Michael Bostwick: Tonight’s skipper who never threatened to lead the side to success. Played in midfield and was quiet throughout after missing a decent shooting opportunity from 20 yards early on 5

Leo Da Silva Lopes: Started with a couple of decent interceptions, but was soon struggling. Off the pace and caught in possession too often. A scrap is no place for a 17-year-old rookie, although his manager was pleased with his performance 5

Marcus Maddison: The one bright Posh player. Always a danger to the Bury defence with his direct running and accurate crossing. Scored the goal and created all the other worthwhile chances, not that there were many. Poor set-piece delivery was his only black mark 8

Jon Taylor: Worked really hard, but he ran into trouble too often. Had the chance to shoot Posh in front and also missed a couple of half-chances after the break 5

Tom Nichols: He ran hard, but he could make no headway against a makeshift back four. Lacks pace amd power. Missed the chance to equalise at 2-2 with a header from a Maddison cross 5

Substitutes:

Shaquile Coulthirst: (for Ntlhe, 46 mins) Hardly retained possession in 45 minutes. Tried hard 5

Martin Samuelsen: (for Taylor, 76 mins).

Callum Chettle: (for Da Silva Lopes, 85 mins).

Harry Beautyman: (not used)

Erhun Oztumer: (not used).
