POSH REACTION: Magic Marcus pips Happy Harry to prestigious awards

Maddison was awarded the ‘Forever Posh’ monthly prize for March before the 3-0 win over Crewe and then dazzled the city newspaper writers during it.

Two-goal Harry Beautyman was also mightily impressive in a dominant team display.

Ben Alnwick: Most Crewe attacks floundered before they reached the Posh goalkeeper. A quiet game of few alarms and no mistakes from the home number one 6

Michael Smith: Linked up really well with Marcus Maddison for an hour before a substitution forced him to change flanks. Played a key part in the killer second goal with a great cross 7

Andrew Fox: Irritated the referee in the early stages and from then on his early substitution was perhaps inevitable. He glides over the turf when going forward, but he gets beaten a little too easily when defending, hence the concession of too many free kicks 6

Jack Baldwin: Strong performance albeit against powderpuff strikers. Won his headers, made his blocks, launched into the odd tackle. Kept his passing simple and he was no worse for that 7

Michael Bostwick: As commanding as Posh fans have come to expect. Caught in possession on the edge of his own penalty area in the early stages, but he barely put a foot wrong after that. Intercepted a couple of dangerous-looking crosses thanks to excellent reading of the game 7

Chris Forrester: He was often out-numbered in his part of the midfield, but he didn’t miss out on too many opportunities to get his side moving forward. He’s probably looking forward to a rest, but Posh have no-one reliable enough to play in his position 6

Harry Beautyman: His strong finish to the season continued with two goals, which would have been three, but for a fine late save from an in-form goalkeeper. Earned his goals with his excellent work-rate and his anticipation of where the ball would drop in the penalty area 8

Marcus Maddison: Another outstanding effort from a great individual talent who has become a terrific team player in recent weeks. Two assists with the second one courtesy of a superbly struck and weighted pass. Playing at the top of his game, but hit the post when he probably should have scored 9

Lee Angol: Brilliant finish made it two goals in two games from this fine attacking prospect, Probably scored from his hardest opportunity and suffered at the hands of an excellent Crewe goalkeeper. Holds the ball up well and his strength is an asset 7

Shaquile Coulthirst: Busy, but little end product. Played out wide and still forced a fine first-half save. Impressive workrate, but could do with scoring his first League One goal sooner rather than later 6

Aaron Williams: The biggest disappointment of the day for Posh. Struggled to hold the ball up which was key as he was playing as the most advanced attacking player 5
