Posh have an abundance of central defenders now that Jack Baldwin has returned to full fitness. Michael Bostwick and Gaby Zakuani could both be available in February.

Posh boss Graham Westley said: “Miles joined knowing full well that we had an abundance of centre half talent at the club, but I have to say that he has been brilliant. He has been here two months and when I have required him to fill in, whether he is match fit or not, he has done the job that a great experienced professional can do.

“His attitude and application, day in day out, has been phenomenal, especially for an experienced boy who has not been getting as much game-time that I am sure he wanted, but we have helped to bring him back to fitness and there are now other clubs interested in him.

“It is very difficult for us to strike an ongoing deal with him because he is an experienced lad and commands a salary that matches that and at the moment we have Ricardo Almeida Santos and Jack Baldwin who are in outstanding form, we have Gabi Zakuani and Michael Bostwick on the way back from injury and we have Shaun Brisley as well, so that is five tremendous centre backs at the football club.”
