Leaders Posh are the top scorers in League One with 19 goals in just seven matches. They also boast League One’s two leading goalscorers Matt Godden and Jason Cummings who have six goals apiece.

Jackett is also aware of the threat posed by maverick Posh winger Marcus Maddison who may start a League One match for the first time this season tomorrow.

Pompey are expecting over 2,000 travelling fans which should push the total attendance towards a first 10,000 gate at the ABAX for 18 months.

Jackett told the Portsmouth News: “Peterborough made a high amount of changes in the summer, but have hit the ground running.

“As Peterborough do, they move players on, but a high amount of players come in.

“They have gelled quickly, hit the ground running and set the standard for the division so far – particularly in terms of goalscoring.

“Although it will be a challenge, it’s one we’re looking forward to.

“There was obviously talk Maddison would be going in the summer, but it hasn’t quite happened. Everyone in League One knows what a talent he is and he will obviously strengthen them.

“It will be a great atmosphere and generally is a big game this early in the season. “We’re delighted with the amount of travelling fans and the interest in this game generally. We’re looking for a good performance and a good result.”
