Where Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney ranks in a list of the club’s deadliest strikers

Ivan Toney will leave Peterborough United this summer and will be regarded as one of the club’s deadliest strikers.

Toney’s 39 goals in 63 Football League starts starts works out as a goal every 1.61 games for the club.

The Peterborough Telegraph looked at all the club’s strikers who have scored 20 or more Football League goals for the club to work out the hottest Posh shots.

We used starting appearances and goals scored in Football League matches only and calculated a games-per-goal ratio.

Star names from successful Posh teams like Ken Charlery and Tony Adcock didn’t even make the top 20. Others who were considered weaker all-round forwards did make the list.

Dwight Gayle, widely recognised as one of the top strikers in the club’s history, didn’t qualify as he ‘only’ scored 13 goals in his 27 appearances at a goal every 2.07 games which would have placed him 12th in our list.

Toney’s lofty ranking would come as no surprise to Posh manager Darren Ferguson who rates the 24 year-old highly. Ferguson said: “I’m lucky enough to have managed some outstanding strikers at this club and Ivan is as good as any of them. He’s more than just a goalscorer as his physicality and quality helps create goals for others.

“Ivan is also a terrific defender at set-pieces. One of the best I’ve managed.”

Club record signing Mo Eisa has 14 goals in 27 Posh starts (a goal every 1.93 starts).
