What to expect at Peterborough United on transfer deadline day
There are likely to be more outgoings than incomings at Peterborough United before the summer transfer window shuts at 11pm on Tuesday.
Posh have taken their summer signing tally to 10 with the recent arrivals of striker Danny Ormerod and centre-back Josh Feeney, both of whom should be in the matchday squad for the visit of Stevenage to the Weston Homes Stadium tonight (7.45pm kick off).
Whether or not there are ny more newcomers to welcome could depend on departures.
Posh seem okay for forward players, wingers and midfielders, especially if Matt Garbett is still at the club when deadline passes, although a deputy for Liam Kelly could come in handy as none of the other midfielders at the club can play in his deep-lying position. One suspects Posh boss Luke Williams knows this hence the use of specialist right-back Carl Johnston in that position until Kelly arrived.

Rumours that Posh are interested in Wrexham midfielder Harry Ashfield have been reported in May and August. There is a school of thought that Posh would push for him if they do sell Garbett. One unnamed Championship club are interested in the New Zealand international, but Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony suggested the move wouldn’t happen on his ‘Hard Truth’ podcast last week.
Mind you a week is a long time in football.
There have been predictable rumours concerning bids for Harry Leonard and teenage whizzkid Bolu Shofowoke, but Posh fan unrest would only heighten if either of those left London Road. Only be concerned if either of them are absent from the squad to face Stevenage.
Posh are far more keen to offload Chris Conn-Clarke, Klaidi Lolos, Donay O’Brien-Brady, George Nevett and Declan Frith, after all they’ve been on the transfer list since May. There has been no interest, not recorded publicly at least, on any of those players.
Deadline day updates on current, and possible future, Posh players will appear here and other League One transfers and news can be found on the PT Summer transfer blog which has been operating since June.
