The top 12 signings made by Peterborough United’s League One rivals so far this summer

Peterborough United’s League One rivals have been busy in the transfer market, even though some claimed they couldn’t afford to finish last season.

As at 6pm yesterday (August 7) League One clubs had made 57 signings since the end of last season with only potential big hitters Charlton Athletic, Ipswich Town and Wigan Athletic yet to bring in any new players.

Wigan’s relegation has been confirmed after an appeal against a 12-point deduction failed.

It was thought clubs would rush out to sign players so they don’t get included in the £2.5 million salary cap that was introduced by third tier clubs yesterday (August 7).

Blackpool and Bristol Rovers lead the way on new signings with six apiece, followed by 5-Lincoln City, 4-Hull City, Plymouth Argyle, 3-AFC Wimbledon, Burton Albion, Crewe Alexandra, MK Dons, Shrewsbury Town; 2-Accrington Stanley, Fleetwood Town, Gillingham, Northampton Town, Oxford United, Sunderland; 1-Doncaster Rovers, Posh, Portsmouth, Rochdale, Swindon Town.

Posh have signed only goalkeeper Dan Gyollai so far this summer.

Former Posh players Jack Baldwin, Michael Bostwick and Alex Woodyard are among those to join rival League One clubs, but are they among the best signings of the summer?

Here are the top 12 according to the PT. Happily for Posh it was a struggle to find a dozen good ones.
