As at 6pm yesterday (August 7) League One clubs had made 57 signings since the end of last season with only potential big hitters Charlton Athletic, Ipswich Town and Wigan Athletic yet to bring in any new players.
Wigan’s relegation has been confirmed after an appeal against a 12-point deduction failed.
It was thought clubs would rush out to sign players so they don’t get included in the £2.5 million salary cap that was introduced by third tier clubs yesterday (August 7).
Blackpool and Bristol Rovers lead the way on new signings with six apiece, followed by 5-Lincoln City, 4-Hull City, Plymouth Argyle, 3-AFC Wimbledon, Burton Albion, Crewe Alexandra, MK Dons, Shrewsbury Town; 2-Accrington Stanley, Fleetwood Town, Gillingham, Northampton Town, Oxford United, Sunderland; 1-Doncaster Rovers, Posh, Portsmouth, Rochdale, Swindon Town.
Posh have signed only goalkeeper Dan Gyollai so far this summer.
Former Posh players Jack Baldwin, Michael Bostwick and Alex Woodyard are among those to join rival League One clubs, but are they among the best signings of the summer?
Here are the top 12 according to the PT. Happily for Posh it was a struggle to find a dozen good ones.

9.
AIDEN O'BRIEN (SUNDERLAND): The last time this 26 year-old played in League One he scored 15 goals in a Millwall side who play in a similar way to Sunderland. He'll be better than Charlie Wyke for sure. Photo: Kirsty O'Connor PA Wire. Photo: PA

10.
JOSH GRANT (BRISTOL ROVERS): A young defensive midfielder who won England age group caps while at Chelsea. He impressed for the Blues in a Checkatrade Trophy game against Posh a couple of seasons back and played a strong part in Plymouth Argyle's League Two promotion campaign last season. Photo: Midlands

11.
ALEX WOODYARD (AFC WIMBLEDON): Posh won't miss their former skipper, but for a team expected to fight against relegation and without (probably) a pandemic to save them, a battling, committed midfielder is an ideal signing. Photo: Midlands

12.
KESHI ANDERSON (BLACKPOOL): We're told Anderson has been Swindon's best player in the last couple of seasons, including the 2019-20 League Two title-winning campaign. An attacking midfielder of some class. Photo: Getty Images. Photo: Midlands
