The January signings feature heavily in the selections as they deserve to be given a chance to show they are an improvement on what Posh already have.
The team sticks with the wing-back formation.
5. JOSH KNIGHT
Demonstrated on Saturday that the left of a back three is not his position, but he has struck up a good partnership with Edwards and he has previous experience of a Championship dogfight. He was player of the season in a poor Wycombe side that almost survived last season.
6. HAYDEN COULSON
Posh have brought in a wingback and allowed Tomlinson to go out on loan, which is sensible. The step-up to regular Championship football is too big for him at this stage of his career. Coulson needs to shrug off injury concerns, but could add defensive stability to the left side, which was so lacking against Sheffield United.
7. JEANDO FUCHS
It looked like there was still some match fitness to find on Saturday, but it was a promising start for Fuchs. He looks a player who is prepared to battle. Plays in a similar style to Oliver Norburn and you have to play the man that wants to be here. The way Norburn has acted as a captain recently raises serious doubts that he should keep that role.
8. JACK TAYLOR
The main news that Posh are sweating on at the moment is the seriousness of the injury suffered by Jack Taylor at Birmingham. It may be that he is out for a while and Jorge Grant fills this slot but Posh are a much better side with Taylor in there and playing well. A significant injury at this stage of the season would be a devastating blow.
