For every roaring success like George Boyd (£250k from Stevenage in 2007) there are a handful of flops like Tom Nichols (£300k from Exeter, 2016) and Adil Nabi (free from West Brom, 2016).
Here are the players Posh have signed on loan or permanently in January over the last 6 years and where they are now.
Posh didn’t sign a single player in January in the League One promotion season of 2020-21.
13. BEN WHITE
HIT! Signed on loan from Brighton, 2019. Okay the centre-back didn't play that often for Posh, but he still looked classy. Appearances 16, goals 1. Now an England international at Arsenal who paid Brighton £50 million for him!. Photo: Joe Dent
14. GEORGE COOPER
MISS! Signed for an undisclosed fee from Crewe, 2018. A midfielder who faded disappointingly after scoring on his Posh debut. Appearances 42 (26 as sub), goals 5. Now at Chesterfield in the National League. Photo: Joe Dent
15. JOE WARD
HIT! Signed from non-league Woking for an undisclosed fee, 2018. A winger who has been an excellent Posh player for four years. Appearances 208, goals 18. Still at Posh, but out of contract at the end of the current season. Photo: Joe Dent
16. OMAR BOGLE
MISS! Signed on loan from Cardiff, 2018. A forward who rarely played or impressed. Appearances 9, goals 1. Now at Newport County in League Two. Photo: Joe Dent
