His arrival started us thinking about other Posh defensive loan signings and here we’ve compiled a list of the best and the worst complete with a performance-based mark out of 10.
We’ve discounted anyone who went on to sign permanently for Posh so a passing mention only to top loan signings Tom Williams and Mark Little.
9. BEN GORDON
A full-back who came on loan from Chelsea in August, 2011 and left after just two sub appearances in September, 2011. Chelsea let him leave for Ross County in 2013 which is about as good as it got for him. Posh rating 1/10. Photo: Getty Images.
10. DAVE ROGERS
A centre-back who remains as part of Posh folkore for all the wrong reasons. The self-styled hardman centre-back moved to London Road on loan from Scottish side Ayr United in October, 2000, but had to wait until December for his first Division Two start at Luton. Posh boss Barry Fry had seen enough after 30 minutes and hauled Rogers off and he never played for the club again. He did play for Torquay and Carlisle after Posh, but not for long. Posh rating 0/10.
11. MATTHEW BRIGGS
This young left-back joined Posh on loan from Fulham in February, 2012, but played just five times in the Championship before returning to Craven Cottage. He was okay, but nothing special. He went on to play for Millwall and Colchester, but is now playing in Denmark. Posh rating 5/10.
12. TOM KENNEDY
This stylish left-back joined Posh on loan twice from Leicester City in January, 2011 and then October, 2011. He was a consistent performer as Posh won a League One play-off place, although Kennedy didn't play after April 5 because of injury. He returned to play steadily in the Championship the following season. Kennedy played 24 times in total for Posh. He went on to play for Barnsley and Rochdale (who were also his first club) and finished his career with Bangor City. Posh rating 7/10.
