Posh star nominated for monthly League One award

Peterborough United star Sammie Szmodics has been nominated for the League One player-of-the-month award for March.

The 25 year-old scored three goals and was credited with two assists in the month.

His rivals for the prize are Blackpool striker Jerry Yates, Gillingham forward Vaidane Oliver and Sunderland defender Luke O’Nien.

Two former Posh bosses have been nominated for the March manager-of-the-month prize. Grant McCann (Hull) and Steve Evans (Gillingham) are up against Simon Grayson (Fleetwood) and Lee Johnson (Sunderland).

Posh completed a clean sweep of the February League One awards through Jonson Clarke-Harris, Darren Ferguson and Jack Taylor. Taylor won the best goal prize.

The winners will be announced on Friday (April 9)
