Posh are planning to build a new stadium close to their current London Road base in the next few years.

Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony speaking on his popular Hard Truth podcast, said: “We could have a stadium sponsorship partner and say the new stadium is being built ‘in conjuction with’ whoever. There could be naming rights as well.

“It would be great to have a massive sponsorship partner. For their part they get to have their name associated with an iconic new stadium in one of the UK’s fastest growing cities.

“Say for example Virgin came on board and offered us £30 million over 10 years, we could take that money to the bank and it could be factored into the cost of building the stadium.

“You have to be creative in sales these days and we have one of the best at our club in Alex Harris.

“We have increased our revenue from sale every year and I’m very proud of that.

“Alex got the naming rights for the current stadium sorted and quickly moved onto the stands and the training ground. I even had the idea of having our Twitter account sponsored and Alex went away and got us £10k for it. We have signed some of the biggest sponsorship deals in League One

“Our shirt sponsorship is also attractive. We were getting £25k a year when I first came to the club (2006-07) and I immediately bought that deal out. I have a clause in all our deals to buy a sponsor out if a better offer comes along.

“If you sponsor us you benefit from us always being in the news for scoring lots of goals, playing great football and selling players for millions.”

Weston Homes sponsor the current Posh stadium and have full naming rights.
