Posh follow that match with games in League One against Plymouth (home, November 24), AFC Wimbledon (away, December 1), Portsmouth (away, December 5), Rochdale (home, December 12), MK Dons (away, December 15) and Ipswich (home, December 19).

They also entertain Chorley in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday, November 28 and they have a Papa John Trophy match away from home, probably on Tuesday, December 8.

The regionalised draw for the first knockout round of the Trophy is live on TalkSPORT2 from 6.15pm tomorrow (Friday). Possible Posh opponents are West Ham Under 21s, Arsenal Under 21s, MK Dons, Oxford, Exeter, Cheltenham and Leyton Orient.

“It’s a busy spell, but we’ve managed the players well between games and we’ll have to keep doing that,” Ferguson said.

“It’s a tough game at the start of the run as Blackpool have hit some form.

“They were expected to do well this season after signing a lot of good players in the summer, but it took them a while to get going which can happen when you recruit a lot of players.

“Blackpool have played 4-4-2 in their last three games and won them all so I expect the same formation and the same style of play this weekend.

“They will put plenty of balls into our penalty area towards Gary Madine who is a real handful.

“I’m surprised they are playing like that, but the manager has clearly looked for a different formula after a slow start and it’s been working for them.

“They have two dangerous wingers as well. CJ Hamilton is rapid so he will need watching.

“But as always it will be about how we play and we need redemption after a poor performance last week.

“We need to bounce back quickly to get over that, but we are still averaging over two points per game which is promotion form.

“We are very comfortable at home so I am confident of a good performance and we’ll need one against very strong opponents.”

Posh are defending a proud unbeaten home record in 2020.

Their record at the Weston Homes Stadium this year reads P11 W9 D2 L0 F 30 A6.
