Posh fans (and former players and local sports stars) react to promotion: ‘My nerves are shredded, jumping around the living room, so proud of the club’

The social media boycott stopped the PT from asking fans what they thought about the club’s promotion as well as a fantastic match at the Weston Homes Stadium yesterday (May 1).

But we scoured Twitter for comments and found some from ex-players and famous local sportsmen as well as supporters.

What an absolutely crazy season. I’ve watched more Posh matches this season than ever before and I’m so happy that we’re promoted. I wish we’d been at London Road to celebrate properly today, but the most important thing is we’ll all be back in August. I bloody love you Posh.

My nerves are completely shredded. Ethan Hamilton gave us the drive and energy we needed in the last half hour, in a game that was all but lost to the opponents. Well done the Posh and everyone connected with the Posh.

@trustchairman

Amazing to see the players bouncing with the fans. We’ve stayed away all season and beyond. Brilliant that they joined the celebrations and we thank them for that! COVID is over. Long love the Posh!

@craigDLyons

That 96th minute in the car park will never be forgotten. Get in there!!!!

@CrisplLevi

OHHH MYYYY GODDDDDDDDD!

@NIckJacksonPosh

WE HAVE DONE IT. OH MY GOD WHAT AN AFTERNOON. UP THE POSH!!!

@stevenettedavid

That was the best day of my life.

@campufc

A lot of mentions about bottle at half time, but this side has come back from losing positions more than any other Posh side I can remember.

@Chicko19771

What have I just watched? I love this football club so much.

@JohnVerrall

Congrats to @theposhofficial. Back in the Championship. 0-3 down at home to 3rd place Lincoln, only to come back, equalisse with a last-minute penalty, and kill any hope Lincoln had to catch them Clapping hands signClapping hands sign. Awesome stuff!

@HelgiDanielsson (ex-Posh player).

When people say to me what’s your favourite ever moment supporting the Posh, I’ve always struggled to find a response. Over the last few years I’ve seen the lows and the lows, but finally I have a moment I can be proud of my football club for!!! We are going up!

We got relegated at Palace after a dodgy injury time free kick so I am not going to apologise for jumping round my living room, screaming after a dodgy injury time penalty at 2am. Except to my wife.

@crisp_jay

It’s been a long, arduous eight years in League One after the pain of Selhurst Park. A painful route back to the Championship but after more than 350 league games, 150 players, 5 managers, 2 new owners.

NEVER A PENALTY BUT WHO CARES!!!! John Busby I love you!

@edwardssport

Congratulations to another one of my old clubs @theposhofficial on another promotion.

@Bondy506 (former Posh goalkeeper Jonathan Bond).

Be proud of the players, board, club, you deserve it so much UTP.

Massive big up for young Ethan Hamilton who has taken criticism and come through the other side. Made a big difference today.

And it was never a free kick at Crystal Palace! (Posh were relegated from the Championship at Selhurst Park in May, 2013 after conceding from a disputed free kick).
