Posh are at MK Dons for a League One fixture tonight (December 15, 7.45pm kick-off) keen to reach the levels that saw Dale swept away 4-1 at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Posh have left-sided defender Dan Butler available again after a calf injury, but he’s unlikely to get back into the side ahead of 18 year-old Harrison Burrows.

Defender Nathan Thompson is serving a one-game suspension and will be replaced by either Niall Mason, Frazer Blake-Tracy or 17 year-old Ronnie Edwards.

“The result and performance on Saturday was very good, but it can’t become an isolated game,” Ferguson stated. “When you are playing three matches in eight days it becomes a very important little run as League positions can change very quickly. Consistency is important now.

“We were a happy squad again at the weekend, but we have to repeat the intensity and energy we showed then because we know what will happen if we don’t.

“It’s a big pitch at MK and they use it well, but it should also suit us. We know the areas which we must play well in as we are facing an experienced side with two strong forwards in Cameron Jerome and Carlton Morris. They have good midfielders and good wing-backs.

“They have great experience at the back in Richard Keogh and Dean Lewington so it’s a tough game. They play out from the back and pass through the thirds ao it should be another good game as it usually is between these sides.

“Our confidence is back though. We could have scored eight on Saturday and I was pleased with the reaction of the younger players, but also those who came on from the bench.

“There was no sulking. They just got on with things and Sammie Szmodics and Mo Eisa helped change the game back in our favour after a slow start to the second-half.

“I’ve been very patient with some players, but now they all know there is a real fight for a starting place. It’s a strong squad that can’t find room for Ethan Hamilton and Frazer Blake-Tracy.”

Ferguson is expected to stick with his 3-4-2-1 formation tonight.
