Posh tackle a battle hardened Barnsley side in a League One fixture at the Weston Homes Stadium on Sunday (3pm kick off). The visitors have an exceptional record away from home and will fancy their chances of picking off a Posh team that has lost five of their last six League One games to plunge down the table.
It’s not a time or a game for teenagers, especially ones that lack confidence.
Here’s the team I’m picking for the game in a 4-2-1-3 formation.
5. EMMANUEL FERNANDEZ
He was publicly called out by his manager after his last outing. Hopefully the criticism has stung and he will respond by concentrating hard, passing the ball on quickly and by using his considerable physique to help batten down the Posh defences. Admittedly it's a real leap of faith, but the alternatives are limited. George Nevett is suspended tomorrow, but it's tough to believe he would have played anyway. Photo: Joe Dent
6. HECTOR KYPRIANOU
I get the need to protect recent hamstring injuries, but needs must and Posh are very needy. It wasn't that long ago the manager said Kyprianou was an automatic pick at League One level. He offers height and strength as well as quality on the ball. Photo: Joe Dent
7. ARCHIE COLLINS
As bad as he was on Boxing Day Collins remains an automatic pick in central midfield. Posh need to get the Kyprianou/Collins axis going again. Photo: DAVID LOWNDES
8. CIAN HAYES
It was a surprise to see him trudge off early in the second-half on Boxing Day. He should be encouraged to turn, run and threaten rather than try and pass backwards all the time. Photo: DAVID LOWNDES
