Broom struck a stunning equaliser during a 2-1 defeat at the hands of a slick-passing Coventry City side. It was the perfect personal warm-up ahead of a game against his old club Cheltenham Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup at the Weston Homes Stadium next Saturday (September 5).

“It was nice to get on the scoresheet and I took the chance well,” Broom stated. “It was a great high press and tackle from Frankie Kent and I was left one-on-one and I’m always happy to take my chances in that situation.

“There were a couple of new faces in the side against Coventry so we are still gelling, but we will take the positives and negatives and talk through them on Monday.

“from my point pof view it was good to get on the home pitch, I have played here once before, but it’s bizarre without any fans. It’s just something we’ll have to get used to for a little while at least.

“It will be good to get a week on the training pitch ahead of next Saturday’s game.”

Broom’s other appearance at London Road was in a 4-2 League One defeat when a Bristol Rovers player in April, 2017
