The game finished 3-0 thanks to two late Jack Marriott goals after Posh had been content to sit back and soak up plenty of Salford pressure.
All in all, it was a professional performance that Posh never looked in trouble in.
RATINGS KEY: 10-Brilliant, 9-Outstanding, 8-Very Good, 7-Good, 6-Steady, 5-Poor, 4-Very Poor.
9. EPHRON MASON-CLARK
Another good night for Posh's in-form man, who is flowing with confidence. His two-touch finish showed great composure and he put another good couple of deliveries into teammates that perhaps should have led to goals. 8.5. Photo: Joe Dent
10. KWAME POKU
A good night to bring him back into after an injury lay-off. He looked bright and may rue not getting on the scoresheet but needed to show more conviction. Sensational ball for Mason-Clark's opener. 7.5 Photo: Joe Dent
11. JACK MARRIOTT
Cut a bit of a frustrated figure at times with Posh out of possession for large periods but stuck at it and proved his class as a goalscorer. Brilliant header to give Posh a rare goal from a corner and his finish into the bottom corner was unstoppable. Staked a strong claim for a place in the side at Bristol Rovers. 8. Photo: David Lowndes
12. JOEL RANDALL (for Poku 82 mins)
Good to see him back. Would have been very frustrated to miss Exeter. Like all the subs though, there was nothing required of him when he came on as Posh just saw out the game 6. Photo: Joe Dent
