Posh have 11 League One games remaining to ensure they emerge victorious from a competitive battle for a top six spot.

Posh are currently sixth, six points outside the automatic promotion places, but only hold the final play-off place on goal difference ahead of Fleetwood.

It looks certain to be a frantic finale to an exhausting campaign, but Ferguson is adamant his side have the mental and physical strength to be successful.

“I haven’t even thought about the pressures involved,” Ferguson insisted. “Because I honestly don’t think that will be a factor in our case.

“We have good experience in our side with players like Mark Beevers and Nathan Thompson and we also have the experience of last season when everything depended on the final game of the season.

“We coped with the pressure then and I am sure, having been through that experience, we will cope with it even better this season.

“There are a lot of teams who will fancy their chances and we are one of them.

“I have been pleased with our fitness in recent games and that will undoubtedly be a factor as some of our rivals have been a lot busier than us lately.

“We are finishing matches well and we also now play exclusively on Saturday or Sunday until Easter which will be a big help.”

Posh start the last lap of the promotion race at Burton on Saturday (February 29) and will again be without talismanic striker Ivan Toney, who is suspended, and classy centre-back Frankie Kent, who is injured.

Ferguson will choose between out-of-form club record signing Mo Eisa and less experienced forwards Ricky-Jade Jones and Idris Kanu to stand in for Toney.
