Peterborough United Women's boss admits defeat was hard to take
Peterborough United Women’s manager Jake Poole admitted defeat to Loughborough Lightning in a National League fixture at Pims Park on Sunday was ‘hard to take’.
Poole felt his side delivered their best performance of the season before a last-gasp goal gave the visitors a 3-2 win in a Northern Premier Division match.

Posh had twice fought back to level through goals from top scorer Ellie May.
"It was a really good game of football against the best Loughborough side I’ve seen for a while,” Poole said. "They have some good young players and are really well organised, but we delivered a really positive performance. For large parts of the game it was the best we have played this season.
"We deserved to be level at the break as we were really bright in the first-half and then we were the dominant team in the second-half even though we conceded a cheap penalty.
"We got a bit lucky with our second equaliser, but we looked like the team who would go on and win the game so it was gutting to concede again so late.
"We had the best chances throughout the game so it was disappointing to not be clinical enough. On another day we would have taken one of them and gone on to win so it is a hard result to take.
"But we will take the positives into next week and tidy up some other bits. The midfielders were excellent and our forwards are always a threat. We were also very combative after I felt we had been too ‘nice’ in previous games.
"What we do know is the league is wide open this season.”
Posh host Derby County at PIMS Park next Sunday (September 20, 2pm kick off). Both teams are on three points after four matches.
