Peterborough United Women drop points for the first time, but they remain in command of the title race
Peterborough United Women are no longer perfect in National Midlands Division One, but they have emerged from a tough period of fixtures in control of the title race.
Table-topping Posh drew 0-0 at Barnsley – the team who started the day in second place – on Sunday, but are four points clear at the top after meeting their three closest challengers in the last three weeks. Posh took seven points from those matches.

Posh take a break from the league next Sunday when they host Wallsend in a second round FA Women’s Cup tie at PIMS Park (1pm).
It was always going to a tough game in South Yorkshire against in-form opponents on a tight playing area and so it proved. Chances were few and far between after an early opportunity for Posh forward Jess Rousseau was spurned before Evie Driscoll-King hit the side-netting after cutting impressively into the penalty area.

Helen Lynskey struck a post for Barnsley before the break, but Posh created the better opportunities in the second half.
Rousseau came close, Kayleigh Hines saw an effort hacked off the goalline and Rousseau provided the danger again in the final moments after taking the ball on the spin, but her shot just crept the wrong side of the post.
Posh: Corry, Driscoll-King, Connor, Pitt, James (sub Osker 85 mins), Hines, Stanford, Reynolds, Perkins (sub Wilshaw 60 mina), Rousseau, Rai (sub Clarke 83 mins). Unused subs: Sharpe, Lawlor, Brown, Mears.
