It was an up-and-down campaign for Peterborough United with a heartbreaking ending at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Posh snuck into the League One play-offs on the final day and even took a 4-0 lead into the semi-final second leg but were unable to convert that impressive advantage into an appearance at Wembley.
It was a similar miserable story in the other knockout competitions with Posh exiting the FA Cup in the second round to Shrewsbury, the League Cup in the first round to League Two Stevenage and the EFL Trophy in the Round of 32 to the Chelsea U21s.
Below all of the players that have played a significant number of games in Posh’s season have been rated by the Peterborough Telegraph.
Key: Letter grades have been used, including plus and minus A (best), B, C, D, E, F, U (worst)

25. Grant McCann- D-
P33 W14, D4, L15. The season started with excitement given the fact that McCann had made a positive impact on relegation-bound Posh in the Championship and had listed the League One title the last time he was in the division. That positivity failed to carry on through with both the three at the back and 4-3-3 formation seeming forced, rather than playing to the strengths of the players available. Stodgy and pedestrian football followed, with an abysmal away record and Posh exited all of the cup competitions early. Posh were three points off the play-offs with a game in hand when he was sacked but it's hard to imagine they would have made it. Photo: Joe Dent
P24 W14, D3, L7. Leaving London Road on New Year's Day after losing 3-0 to Wycombe, most Posh fans would have thought you were joking if you said that this squad would have made the play-offs. In came Ferguson though, he made a couple of key additions, tweaked the formation and appeared to give the players licence and freedom, which they took advantage of. Coming in midway through a season into a team not performing well is always hard and there are still challenges, such as addressing this wretched record when conceding first but do Posh really need "new ideas"? Fergie's ones have served the club pretty well this season. Photo: Joe Dent
