Peterborough United team: Should Posh switch to wing backs after Cheltenham turnaround and who should get the nod out of Joe Ward and Nathan Thompson?
The formation is the main issue to consider as the Peterborough Telegraph picks its team to face Morecambe on Saturday (August 6).

Speaking on Thursday (August 4) about whether he would stick with the wing back system that turned around the game in the second half at Cheltenham McCann said: “In every game, we will pick a team that we think will hurt the opposition and if that means a change in formation then so be it but it’s not about we played well in the second half at Cheltenham so let’s go with that again, it’s a lot more complicated that that.”
I will, however, be reverting to a 3-4-1-2 formation to allow to Posh to get more balls into the box wit their strong wing backs and I think it is the formation that best suits the players in the squad.
I have picked the team I would start, not the side I predict Grant McCann will put out.

An ok right back option in a crisis but should enjoy himself more back in a more familiar right centre back role. Will give him the ability to keep going on his driving runs forward without leaving the side quite as exposed at the back. Photo: Joe Dent
Has to walk into the team after changing the game so effectively against Cheltenham. A proven threat at League One level and is now a competent wing back. He has trained this week and should be ready for a start. Photo: Joe Dent
A capable midfielder who excels at the defensive side of the game but does need to realise the limits of his game a little bit more. Tries too many Hollywood passes he hasn't got the ability to play at times, need to just give it off to his teammates a little more. Photo: Joe Dent
Like Szmodics, he is a willing runner and he does like to get involved in the action at both ends of the pitch. Seems like an obvious replacement for the moment but the club do need to bring in a genuine number 10 as a replacement if McCann does want to keep the squad's versatility. Photo: Joe Dent
