Taylor misses the tricky League One match at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday (November 14) and that’s a blow for Posh as the 22 year-old has scored in his last three appearances.

Taylor will instead be involved in European Under 21 Championship qualifying matches for Ireland at home to Iceland on Sunday and in Luxembourg on Wednesday, November 18.

He will be back in time to play for Posh at home to Blackpool in a League One fixture on November 21.

Posh have won nine of their last 10 competitive matches. They drew the other one.

“I’m sure whover takes my place will come in and do a great job,” Taylor told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. “We made a lot of changes for the FA Cup tie at Oxford last weekend, but the new faces have all been part of a squad that has enjoyed the winning feeling and we managed to get another win.

“There are lots of lads capable of stepping up on Saturday. Ethan Hamilton and Louis Reed for a start so I’m confident the good form will continue. The dressing room is buzzing right now. We are in a very good place.

“I’m pleased with my own form. The club paid Barnet a lot of money for me and I’m delighted to have repaid that faith with some goals. I love getting forward and getting shots at goal. That’s what I used to do at Barnet.

“I was fortunate to join such a good side who play great football, never lose at home and have a manager who is tactically very good.

“I was desperate to play well at Oxford as I can’t expect to walk straight back into the side after being away.

“I love playing for Ireland as well. The different ways of training and playing in international football are good for my development.”

Taylor joined up with the Ireland camp on Tuesday (November 10) and is due back at London Road on Friday, November 20.

Hamilton or Reed will most likely replace Taylor at Crewe.
