The Peterborough Telegraph understands personal reasons as well as a desire to play at a higer level is behind the request.
Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed the report today, but suggested the 24 year-old would not be going anywhere without a considerable fee being received.
MacAnthony also criticised the actions of the player’s agent. MacAnthony said: “I woke up the the transfer request from Siriki today. We received it over the weekend and we weren’t expecting it.
“His agent will be behind this. It’s what they do, but I have no idea why players go along with it.

RIP to former Peterborough United manager and title-winning player Mick Jones
“Every player in League One is for sale, but only at the right price. Siriki won’t be going anywhere unless we receive an acceptable offer.
“It is what it is. We need to just get on with things and the player just needs to get on with playing.”
Posh signed Dembele from Grimsby Town in the summer of 2018 for a fee believed to be in the region of £200k.
Posh will want a hefty fee before allowing one of their biggest assets to leave. MacAnthony scoffed a recet price tag of £2 million for a player who has scored 19 goals in 77 Posh appearances.
Dembele started this season in terrific form, but he has not scored since the FA Cup tie at Oxford on November 7.#
Celtic, Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, West Brom, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have all been linked with Dembele in recent weeks.
