“It’s a great achievement by Keir,” Mackail-Smith stated. “And hopefully there will be many more goals to come. Huge congratulations.”

And current Posh boss Darren Ferguson, a three-time promotion winner, added: “What a fantastic achievement. Well done Keir.”

Perkins scored just past the hour mark at Derby-based Woodlands, but table-topping Posh couldn’t find a winning goal against a team who hadn’t previously picked up a point this season.

Piper O’Neill had equalised an early Woodlands goal in the first-half.
