Peterborough United set to face an 'over-achieving' AFC Wimbledon side and a former London Road striker
AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson insists his ‘over-achieving’ side can bounce back from successive League One defeats.
‘The Dons’ went down 1-0 at Stevenage last Saturday and then 4-2 at home to Leyton Orient on Tuesday night to slip back into the bottom half of the table. They are now level on 49 points with Posh, a decent return for a team expected to fall straight back down into League Two.

Jackson said: “We're massively overachieving. We could be in a much, much worse position. There are some clubs that aren't expected to be where they are. Everyone was talking about us being the prime candidate for being bottom of the league and we've got ourselves in a great position with a great points tally so far. We need to add to it and we will.”
CURRENT FORM
The defeat at home to Orient ended a run of four straight League One home wins for ‘The Dons’. Promotion-chasing Bradford City and Reading were among the victims at Plough Lane. ‘The Dons’ have won eight and lost seven of their 18 home games this season.
STAR MEN Former Oxford United and Middlesbrough forward Marcus Browne is ‘The Dons’ top scorer in League One games with 12 goals. Former Posh striker Matty Stevens has nine goals from just 19 starts after an injury interrupted campaign.
Teenage Midfielder Junior Nkeng emulated David Kamara by scoring the first two goals of his Football League career on Tuesday night.
‘The Dons’ like to play with wing-backs with former Portsmouth and Oxford man Steve Seddon a particular threat from the left.
PAST MATCHES
Posh have never won at AFC Wimbledon since the club reformed and returned to the Football League. Even the Covid promotion Posh team of 2020-21 lost at Plough Lane, 2-1 with Jonson Clarke-Harris scoring a consolation goal.
That was the last Posh visit. They’d also lost the previous two meetings 1-0.
MAN IN THE MIDDLE
Scott Jackson is the referee at Plough Lane. He’s only officiated one Posh match in his life, the 1-0 League One defeat at home to Barnsley in August.
BIG MATCH ODDS
Posh are 2/1 with Sky Bet to win for the first time at the new Plough Lane stadium. The home side are 6/5 with the draw chalked up at 9/4.
Posh are now 80/1 to be relegated this season with the same firm who are not currently offering odds on a Posh promotion, but Sky Bet do have us at 80/1 to finish in the top six!
