Peterborough United praised for their professionalism and approach to the Danny Ormerod transfer negotiations

Peterborough United’s pursuit of striker Danny Ormerod started in June and they had to raise their initial offer considerably before landing their man.

Selling club AFC Fylde released a statement to accompany the departure of Ormerod in a deal worth an initial fee of £600k plus a substantial sell on amount.

The National League club have praised the professionalism and approach of the Posh negotiating team of chairman Darragh MacAnthony and director of football Barry Fry.

The club statement read: “Transfers like this are never easy, as the selling club never want to lose their best players, but having set a valuation, when that valuation was met, we honoured our commitment to Peterborough.

‘It’s fair to say that since initial discussions began back in June, Peterborough have come a long way from their original position, and we think this deal represents tremendous value for both clubs.

‘The agreement with Peterborough represents a guaranteed fee of £600,000, alongside a substantial future sell-on clause. We believe the guaranteed element of the transfer places Danny as the second-highest National League transfer of all time and is a significant piece of business for the club as we continue to build for the future.

‘We have thoroughly enjoyed our dealings with Peterborough throughout the process. Their professionalism and approach have been first class, and we would like to place on record our thanks to Barry Fry and Darragh MacAnthony, for the professional way in which they have conducted business.

‘For Danny, this is a fantastic opportunity and one that he has earned through his hard work, determination and performances in an AFC Fylde shirt. He has an exciting career ahead of him, and everyone associated with the Club will be watching his progress with great pride as he takes the next step in his journey. We would like to wish Danny and his family every success for the future.’
