Four League One wins in a row has propelled Posh into an automatic promotion place. Fergie’s men have picked up maximum points in February at a time when some promotion rivals have faltered.

The boss expects Plymouth to offer a sterner test than recent opponents, but he’s confident his players will rise to the challenge.

“We look strong physically,” Ferguson said. “We are finishing games very powerfully and we look good. But we need to be mentally strong as well.

“The run we are on needs to go on for as long as possible. We are looking at one game at a time, but three of our next four matches are away and when we emerge from that we need to still be where we are now.

“It will be tough tonight. Plymouth are on a nine-month unbeaten run. They have a clear identity, they play the same way most weeks and they have players who are an obvious threat.

“It’s a long trip for a Tuesday game, but we just have to get on with things. Everyone has to play down there.

“But we will try and positive and aggressive. We will be looking for another good performance and most importantly another three points.”

Posh legend Mark Tyler will again serve as substitute goalkeeper at Home Park as number one Christy Pym’s regular back-ups Dan Gyollai and Will Blackmore are self-isolating because of Covid scares.

Posh have no other injury scares, They travelled to Devon yesterday.
