Peterborough United pair are nominated for October League One awards

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson and forward Siriki Dembele have been nominated for League One’s October awards.

Ferguson is a candidate for manager-of-the-month after Posh won six and drew one of their seven third tier fixtures and soared to the top of the table as a result.

Dembele is in line for the player-of-the-month prize after scoring five goals, including a hat-trick against Shrewsbury, in October. The 24 year-old was also credited with two goal assists.

Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer looks like Ferguson’s main rival. His side won five and drew one of their six matches without conceding a single goal.

Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman and Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett are the other nominations.

Dembele’s rivals are former Posh player Gwion Edwards (Ipswich), Charlton goalkeeper Ben Amos, another former Posh player, and Portsmouth forward Marcus Harness.

The winners will be announced on Friday (November 13).
