The centre-back scored the second goal as Bristol Rovers claimed their first win of the League One season, 2-0 at home to the Cobblers, thus ensuring the local enemy start next Saturday’s derby lower in the table than Posh.

Baldwin once scored in a 2-0 Posh win over Cobblers in the days when Steve Evans was manager at London Road.

Evans is currently riding high in sixth place with Gillingham who claimed a 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury yesterday thanks to a 94th minute equaliser.

Marcus Maddison came on a substitute for Charlton against Sunderland for the final seven minutes. The match finished 0-0.

Former Posh defender Dean Holden was not a 100% popular choice to become Bristol City manager, but he’s started to win over his critics. City have won all four Championship games under Holden, the latest a 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest, to sit top of the table.

It wasn’t such a good day for Lee Tomlin who suffered his 10th career red card in Cardiff’s 0-0 draw at Blackburn Rovers. Tomlin picked up seven of those red cards playing for Posh, the most of any Posh player in the club’s history.

In League Two Nathan Ralph scored with a stunning volley to earn a first point of the season for Southend in a 1-1 draw at Crawley, while Oldham skipper Carl Piergianni was on target for Oldham in a 3-3 draw at Colchester and Shaun Brisley conceded the penalty which sent Port Vale spinning to their first loss of the season at Morecambe.

Current Posh player Bradley Rolt was loaned out to Brackley of the National North Division on Friday and scored two late goals after coming on as a substitute 24 hours later including a 90th minute equaliser in a 2-2 FA Cup draw with Billericay Town. Brackley won 4-2 on penalties.

Ivan Toney struck twice in the Championship for Brentford yesterday, but a 2-0 lead turned into a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of Preston.
