Bad things tend to happen to Peterborough United at Wycombe Wanderers.

They have only won one of 12 Football League games at Adams Park and that was courtesy of a last-gasp goal from Leon McKenzie 19 years ago. Posh have lost seven of those dozen fixtures.

The last visit in the Covid campaign of 2019-20 was traumatic as Posh outclassed their hosts to lead 2-0 through Mo Eisa and Josh Knight, and then 3-2 after a spectacular Ivan Toney strike, before conceding a soft last-minute penalty which Adebayo Akinfenwa converted to force a draw.

Just to add to the frustration Wycombe played the final 15 minutes with 10 men.

In a season when points-per-game was controversially used to settle promotion places it proved to be a costly slip. Wycombe were the main beneficiaries of an illogical EFL decision with Posh the biggest losers.Former Posh striker Scott McGleish also scored with a last-gasp penalty to deny his old team a rare win in 2008 and Wycombe scored twice in the last 15 minutes to force a 2-2 draw in 2005.

Even when Posh received some luck in the form of an abandoned game when 2-0 down in 1997, they returned to the same venue the following week and lost by the same score with goals from the same players including future Posh striker Miguel De Sousa!

Posh legend David Farrell was a Wycombe player back then.
