Posh face the Pilgrims for the first of two times in four days and have a chance to avenge last year’s first round thrashing at the hands of the same opponents at the same stage last season.

Grant McCann is expected to make changes but the game has come too soon for Kwame Poku and Harvey Cartwright.

  • Posh looking for first League Cup win in 6 years

Anotehr good opening falls to Posh.

Danny Mayor plays a loose pass across his own goal. Taylor picks it up and has plenty of space, goes for a backheel towards Randall though and the chance is wasted.

That really should have been made into something more.

Oh dear, that was a nervy moment. O’Connell slides in on Whittaker in the box but it’s a great tackle and he wins the ball. Had to get it right and did.

Good few minutes for Posh. Managed to get a bit more control, Plymotuh look as if they are starting to get a bit more frantic.

Posh are now carrrying more of a threat but Plymouth still look like they will create a chance every time they come forward.

Knight heads out a corner well.

Posh want a penalty. Knight barges his way into the box, he goes past Edwards, who looks to have his arms on him, that looks a good shout for one.

Last action that for Jones. Gabe Overton comes on for a debut in has place Ben Thompson also replaces Randall.

Just like that, Posh should win it there. Taylor springs the offside trap on the right, feeds Jones in the centre. He has to score but only managed to put his shot at Cooper as he comes off his line

Whittaker now with a glorious chance after a poor Knight clearance. He’s 12 yards out but managed to balloon it over the bar.

Azaz shoots again. Posh can’t get anywehre near him. He beats Tomlinson again in the box but he does not hit the target again, well over.

A concern though.

Well then, Plymouth can make more changes.

They’re going for it now bringing on Ryan Hardie and Danny Mayor for Ennis and Houghton.
