Peterborough United host Morecambe in their first home game of the season (August 6).

Posh return to competitive action at the Weston Homes Stadium with a home tie against Morecambe, who many pundits and bookmakers tip to be relegated.

Derek Adams’ men stayed up on the last day of last season but despite being tipped for another season of struggle, still have Cole Stockton in their ranks. One of the hottest strikers in the EFL last season in their side.

Grant McCann has a decision to make over his formation but will be able to call upon Nathan Thompson and Joe Ward this time around.

Key Events

  • 3pm kick-off

Posh keep hold of the ball and get in back into the box, Marriott tries to squeeze an effort in at the near post. Just wide.

Brilliant play Knight, wins a 50-50 in his own half. Brings all the way to the Morecambe box, goes wide to Marriott, who puts in a low cross back towards him, as he headed for the penalty spot. Too far for him but Thompson arrives and shoots, well blocked by Fane.

Posh will have to be patient here, Morecambe are sitting in deep and I doubt will come out all game. Some wasteful Posh passing given them hope on the break so far.

Stockton again causing trouble, runs past Kent and tries to slip in Hunter, just over hits it.

First opening Morecambe, good through ball for hunter to chase. Bergstrom off his line well to gather.

Morecambe return the favour seconds later. Looks like both sides are lining up with wing backs.

Taylor starts the game with a pass straight out of play.

Today marks the first day of the safe standing in the LRE. A little bit of a hiccup with it not actually opening until 2:15pm, with what looked like work still being done to a couple of seats.

Fine though now. Down to the fans to mkae sure it doesn’t change the atmosphere.
