Peterborough United linked with a move for promotion-winning MK Dons midfielder

Peterborough United have been linked with a move for MK Dons midfielder Liam Kelly.

Kelly was a regular in the Dons team that won promotion from League Two last season, but he is entering the last year of his contract and has yet to agree a fresh deal.

That has alerted many clubs to the possibility of signing the 30 year-old, including Posh according to national journalist Pete O’Rourke, who is usually a very reliable source.

Kelly moved to MK after helping a gifted Crawley Town to promotion from League Two in the 2023-24 season. Crawley stuffed MK 8-1 on aggregate in a play-off semi-final with Kelly scoring one of the goals. He also scored in a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra at Wembley in the final.

Kelly only scored three times in 85 appearances from MK, but Posh will see him as the ideal replacement for Archie Collins.

The PT had been told Posh would make signings ahead of Saturday’s final pre-season friendly at home to West Bromwich Albion, but none have yet materialised.

Director of football Barry Fry has told the PT the club are working on up to four new signings.
