Peterborough United knocked out of the cup by professional FIFA player in front of a big crowd

Peterborough United, represented by defender Rhys Bennett, were knocked out of the inaugural #UltimateQuaranteam FIFA 20 Tournament, by Exeter City tonight (March 23).

But to be fair to Bennett he was up against a professional E Gamer (yes these things do exist) called Sculptaa and then only after a replay.

Indeed Posh looked set to claim a big scalp when taking a 2-0 lead in the first tie at the Weston Homes Stadium. Goals inside four first-half minutes from Mo Eisa and Sammie Szmodics gave Posh a deserved interval lead.

But Exeter struck back with goals on 63 minutes and 68 minutes, the first from former Posh player Nicky Ajose annoyingly, to force a second game.

And the pro FIFA player really showed his class at St James Park. He won 2-0 and it would have been six, but for the brilliance of Posh ‘keeper Aaron Chapman.

Bennett controversially started with Eisa ahead of in-form Siriki Dembele in the first game and took Ivan Toney off at half-time in the replay.

Those selections were based on FIFA stats apparently just to prove that games for children are not based on reality, although the honkingly inaccurate commentary from Martin Tyler and Alan Smith was very true to life.

Remarkably the match which was 12 minutes long in real time attracated a peak crowd of over 7,500.

Leyton Orient have organised the tournament between 128 clubs worldwide with the aim of raising £100k for charity. They are already halfway towards that total.
