The Youth Cup has been suspended indefinitely because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The 2019-20 competition was postponed late in the season with matches finally completed at the start of the current campaign, but with so many ties currently outstanding, the 2020-21 edition could be scrapped for good.

Posh had beaten non-league sides Newmarket and Altrincham to book a home date with a Doncaster side who are looked after by Posh legend Steve Welsh. That match was due to take place at the Posh training ground today (January 13).

Posh moved up to second place in the South East Division of the Youth Alliance League last weekend following a handsome 4-1 win over local rivals Cambridge United.

Nicky Gyimah scored twice with Rod McGlinchey and an own goal completing the scoring.

Posh are a point behind Luton at the top of the table, but don’t have a scheduled fixture this weekend.
