Peterborough United fans on potential signings and low expectations

Peterborough United desire a number 6, a right winger and a forward before the League One season starts next month, according to chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

The PT asked the fans to nominate their suggestions for new signings. Several names were delivered for the number 6 role (see here).

Here’s who you would like to arrive at London Road to fill the winger and forward roles.

As told to @PTAlanSwann on X…

Regular contributor @FilmedbyHaz nominated Aston Villa wide player Tommi O’Reilly and young AFC Fylde striker Danny Ormerod. O’Reilly, who spent last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra has been linked with Posh before and is available despite having a year left on his Villa contract. There have been suggestions O’Reilly would command a fee of £1 million which Posh couldn’t afford.

Ormerod scored 31 goals in 43 matches as Fylde won the National League North title last season.

Meanwhile @FarrowCarl agreed re O’Reilly, but optimistically suggested Sammie Szmodics would welcome a return to London Road from Ipswich Town. He wouldn’t.

Another in the O’Reilly camp is @jacobcr27518800, as is @MrD23English who is also a fan of Ormerod.

Other Posh fans messaged about the squad in general and the expectations for the 2026-27 season...

I'll be happy with four teams below us! Took absolutely no momentum into the summer and we are in trouble unless we sign some on pitch leadership – @davidwh1971

Reducing the club’s debt is the Chairman’s main priority. Secondly he’d like to keep in league One. Brace yourselves Posh fans for another low key season – @ChrisCook007

It amazes me what can change in 2 years as before these last two horror seasons we were promotion contenders. Certainly play-off contenders – @CraigIsted

The defence is looking okay, midfield needs someone creative, although I expect Ben Woods will come good this year as has an engine. We look very weak on the wings, even Ktrell Lisbie towards the end of last season didn't fill me with confidence – @SthNorfolkPosh
