Peterborough United fans explain why Mo Eisa, Ricky-Jade Jones, Josh Knight or George Boyd should replace Ivan Toney
Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney’s two-match suspension has given manager Darren Ferguson a selection dilemma.
Toney collected his 10th caution of the season in the first-half of last night’s (February 11) 4-0 win over Southend United.
He then went on to score twice to bring his season’s tally to 25 goals.
With no obvious like-for-like replacement in the Posh squad we asked fans through @PTAlanSwann on Twitter what team they would pick for Saturday’s (February 15) game at Fleetwood. Toney also misses the game at Burton on February 29.
Here are the pick of the Posh fans’ suggestions as told to @PTAlanSwann on Twitter...
‘Same side with Eisa direct replacement for Toney - won’t be as potent but that’s the challenge for Fergie to manage. I just don’t like the look of these games that other teams have in hand - Coventry one point behind and three games in hand.’
‘Knight for Brown and Boyd for Toney. Play Dembele up front with Sammy and Boyd in behind - and try to keep the ball on the floor!’
My team: Pym: Thompson, Beevers, Mason: Ward, Brown, Taylor, Butler: Smzodics: Dembele, Eisa.
I would bring on Jones for Eisa or Dembele if one isn’t pulling their own weight.’
‘Eisa came on towards the end last night instead of Ricky-Jade Jones (RJJ) to give him much-needed game time if he’s going to start on Saturday.’
‘I’d go RJJ, but Fergie has to go with Eisa really, otherwise his head will go for sure.’
‘RJJ for Toney only change in forward areas. Thompson for Bennett, Knight for Brown other changes for me.’
‘Eisa for Toney, Thompson for Bennett. Knight is definitely pushing Brown for a start though.’
‘Same as tonight, all I would do is replace Ivan with Knighty. Knighty puts himself about and is more of a target man compared to Mo. Knighty is closest we have to Ivan’s physical side.’
‘Midfield Knight, Brown, Taylor, up front Szmodics and Dembele. Now that is controversial.’
‘RJJ for Toney and Knight needs to start purely to replace the loss of Toney in our own box defending.’
