Peterborough United defender Frazer Blake-Tracy felt he had a point to prove on his first start of the League One campaign last night (November 24).

The 25 year-old recruit from non-league King’s Lynn in the summer of 2019 has had to be patient for his chance this season after a strong first campaign with Posh.

An injury at the start of the season didn’t help and nor did a great run of form from the team.

Blake-Tracy’s presence helped Posh keep a first clean sheet in five matches as they beat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 at the Weston Homes Stadium.

“I felt I had a point to prove as I haven’t played as much as I would have liked,” Blake-Tracy stated. “It’s been frustrating, but there are a lot of good players at the club and a lot of good defenders.

“You always have to be ready to play though. It’s my job. If you’re not ready you’ll fall futher down the pecking order. “I needed to take my opportunity when it came so I was pleased to get through 90 minutes and to help the team win. We played well and the dressing room was a happy place afterwards.

“We didn’t play well in the two previous games, but we don’t listen to media noise and social media comments. We just listen to the manager, analyse where we went wrong and try and put it right.

“I’ve said it before, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to play for this club. There is pressure as we want to get into the Championship, but we are a strong group.

“Last season, I felt I had some good games and I had some poor games. Top players are consistent in their performances and that is what I am trying to achieve.

“I like getting on the ball and controlling play. I’ll get forward if I can.”

Blake-Tracy returned to the side as the left-sided of three centre-backs. He’s expected to play in a strong side against non-league Chorley in Saturday’s second round FA Cup tie against Chorley at the Weston Homes Stadium (November 28, 5.30pm).
