Peterborough United defender leaves the Weston Homes Stadium

Peterborough United have cancelled the contract of defender Jason Naismith by mutual consent.

The 26 year-old is expected to join a Scottish club.

Naismith was signed by Posh from Scottish Premier League side Ross County in July, 2018, but after a strong first season at London Road when he made 50 first-team appearances he fell out of favour.

Naismith played just once last season in an EFL Cup tie before moving to Hibernian on loan. He did well for Hibs, but a cruciate ligament injury halted his season and his hopes of moving to Easter Road on a permanent basis.

Naismith was not included in the Posh League One salary cap squad for this season and has appeared in just two EFL Trophy matches.

He made 53 appearances and scored one goal for Posh.
