The classy centre-back missed the final month of the season after picking up a serious knee injury in the 4-0 home romp over Oxford United at the Weston Homes Stadium on February 8.

But he strolled through 45 minutes of Saturday’s 1-0 friendly win over Stamford AFC at the Zeeco Stadium, a game settled by Bradley Rolt’s late header.

“It was good just to get out there and get some minutes under the belt as it’s been a long time since I played,” Kent said. “I thought I would be okay as I’d done two tough weeks of training without a reaction.

“The injury was a strange one as I did by just passing the ball forward. I just felt a twinge, but I’m ready to kick on now

“We are playing a lot of friendlies in quick succession, but the league season is going to be very busy with a lot of midweek games so it’s something we need to get used to.

“We also need to get used to the way things are in football now. We are just adapting to new situations and I am sure we will cope fine.

“Knowing when the season is starting helps and when the fixtures come out we will start to really look forward to playing again.”

Posh play top local non-league side Peterborough Sports behind closed doors on Tuesday (August 4).

The 2020-21 League One season is due to start on Saturday, September 12 with a Carabao Cup tie scheduled for September 5.
