EFL clubs have suffered a spate of postponements because of positive tests among playing staff. Posh have seen their last four League One games called off.

Testing has not been regular through the campaign to date, but the growth of a more transmissable strain of the virus across the country has forced the EFL and PFA to act.

Posh and the rest of the EFL clubs took a mandatory Covid test on Monday. All the Posh players tested negative meaning they should return to action after a 25-day break at League One leaders Lincoln City on Saturday (January 9).

Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony welcomed the news. He said: “Credit where it is due. Stepping in now is the right thing to do to enable the testing for clubs and their players. Well done to the EFL and the PFA.”
