That means up to 2,000 Posh fans will be able to watch live football at London Road again.

But Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony remains unhappy insisting there is no financial benefit for clubs. He tweeted: “Honestly all this tier nonsense. So Californian with this rubbish with tiers & colour zones. 2020 is gift that keeps on giving. Isn’t this draconian government overreach so wonderful in our lives whilst decimating our businesses & way of life?

“It allows season ticket holders some games, stems large scale refunds, but we will have to staff games with security & so no income whatsoever for club, but expenditure. Happy for fans, but for clubs, no real financial benefit.”

The first Posh home game to admit fans will be the Papa John’s Trophy game against West Ham United Under 21s on Tuesday December 8.

Posh also host Rochdale (December 12), Ipswich Town (December 19) and Charlton Athletic (December 29) in League One matches next month.

There will be a review of tiers on December 16.

Posh have 3,400 season ticket holders. The club are expected to announce priority admission details soon.
